About this Website
These web pages are created and edited on behalf of the Friends of Coombe Wood by John Rostron.
If you hover over any of the links in the navigation panel at the left, it will give you some indication of the content of that page. Clicking the link takes you to the page. There is no link to the current page.
On some pages, notably those on wildlife, there is a small i-symbol [If you hover over this with the mouse, then an information panel about that item will appear, usually with an image. i] after the name. If you hover over this with the mouse, then an information panel about that item will appear, usually with an image.
For users who prefer using the keyboard rather than the mouse, you can use the [Tab] key to select a link, and press [Enter] to get this panel. Pressing [Tab] again removes the panel and moves to the next link.
For the Technically-minded:
These pages have been written using PHP, a scripting language, which allows me to ensure that those features common to all pages (particularly the navigation) are identical on each page. It also ensures that, for the majority of pages, I have not relied on Javascript. Some users switch this off for security reasons. The only pages that require Javascript are the Access and Maps pages (which uses Google maps, where it is essential) and the Animals page, where Javascript allows the user to show or hide lists of species. In the absence of Javascript, all lists are shown. Additionally, in the absence of Javascript, the accessibility keyboard options described above are not available.
